Nitro Cold Brew Brew Guide

 Step 1

Make cold brew concentrate using your preferred method. The easiest, and our favorite, is the toddy method. You can purchase an at-home toddy to brew smaller amounts of concentrate.

If you have a French Press, you can use it to make your concentrate for a smaller yield. All you have to do is pour your freshly ground coffee in the French press, add room temperature filtered water, and stir the mixture to fully saturate the grounds. Close the top of the French press, and leave it on your counter for at least 12 hours. Once 12 hours have passed, push the plunger all the way down. Strain the concentrate to get rid of any unwanted grounds. Pour the concentrate into a glass bottle or mason jar, seal it, and store it in your fridge.

You will use the same grind setting that’s required for a regular cold brew, which is extra coarse to compensate for the 12 hour brew time. During this time, the water is able to fully extract all the flavors and aromas.

For cold brew concentrate, the water to ground coffee ratio should be at around 12.5 grams of coffee for every 100 milligrams of water for a strong brew, which is what you want in a concentrate.

Step 2

Dilute the concentrate with 1 cup of water for every 2 cups of cold brew. For a 20 oz French Press, you will need 2.5 cups of water.

Step 3

Infuse the cold brew with nitrogen by pouring git into a whipped cream dispenser. Charge the dispenser with one nitrous oxide cartridge, and shake it for 30 seconds.

Step 4

Place the dispenser on the counter, and let it sit until cold the touch, which should only take about 30 more seconds.

Step 5

Hold your glass at a slight angle, and dispense the coffee by pushing down on the handle. The coffee will come through the spout and into your glass.
